Ingredients

Dough:

  • 200 g rolled pizza dough store-bought or homemade

Filling:

  • 1 cup spinach blanched, drained, and chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2-3 tbsp sour cream
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan or cheese to taste

Decoration:

  • Whole black peppercorns for eyes
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • whole pumpkin seeds for tail

Instructions

  • Chop the spinach and mix it with sour cream. Season the filling to taste with garlic powder, pepper, and salt. Mix in grated parmesan or cheese.
  • Set aside about 1/8 of the pizza dough. Roll out the remaining dough into a rectangle (or simply unfold it), spread it with the spinach filling, and roll it up.
  • Roll it in such a way that you get a shorter and thicker log.
  • Cut the log into slices about 1.5 cm – 2 cm thick and place them on baking paper. From the reserved dough, shape 5 smaller balls for each slice to form the turtle's legs and head, and attach them to the slice to create the shape of a turtle.
  • Add whole peppercorns for the eyes and pumpkin seeds for the tail.
  • Brush the turtles with beaten egg.
  • Bake them for about 12 - 15 minutes at 200°C (392°F) or until nicely golden.
